Make Room in Your Heart, Your
Home and Your Life

Do you want to make a life-changing difference for children who need your help? There are thousands of children in foster care in Arizona. These children need unconditional love and a safe, stable home. Will you make room in your heart, your home and your life for a child in foster care?

Foster Care and Adoption

Foster families provide a safe, loving home for children and teens when their parents are unable to care for them. This temporary care offers stability and support while working toward family reunification. If families are not able to reunite, the situation may change from foster care to adoption.

There is a shortage of loving foster families in Arizona, especially those willing to keep siblings together, accept placements of teenagers, or provide homes for those with medical or behavioral needs. Catholic Charities is here to help you through the foster care licensing process.

Foster Parent Training

Training is required to become a licensed foster parent. Foster Parent College is an interactive training course that consists of five virtual meetings and online courses that are completed independently.

After being licensed, ongoing training is provided. Current guidelines require 12 hours of advanced training every two years as part of your license renewal. In addition to Foster Parent College, foster parents must acquire and maintain a CPR and First Aid Certification.

Foster Care Licensing

Arizona residents 21 years of age or older may be eligible to become licensed foster parents. They must also be able to pass a criminal background check. Foster parents can be single or married; they can live in an apartment or a house and be renters or homeowners. Potential foster parents must show that they are financially stable.
