Paths of HOPE
With hope, they knew they could begin again...
We didn’t know what to do or where to turn,” recalls Todd. “Catholic Charities gave us direction and the tools we needed to improve our lives. Now our lives are on track.

As the economy declined, so did Todd’s sales. Ends simply did not meet. He, his wife Crystal, and their two young daughters were soon homeless, living at a friend’s. They were thousands of dollars in debt. The stress of their situation took a toll on their marriage, leading them to become separated, and to contemplate divorce. But, they wanted so much to work through their situation and provide a caring, stable home for their girls.

Todd and Crystal came to Catholic Charities for help. They received counseling, entered our housing program and committed to working to improve their situation. They also participated in Paths of HOPE, Catholic Charities program to help those in need transition from a life of uncertainty to one of stability and of their dreams. Todd and Crystal learned to make sound financial decisions and began repairing their credit.

In a little less than a year, Todd and Crystal paid down most of their debt and started a saving account. Todd secured a job with more pay and Crystal returned to school to become a certified nursing assistant. They have committed themselves to making their marriage work, are continuing to pay down their debt, and to work toward long-term financial independence. They hope to buy a home in the next few years.
