When Katelyn arrived at My Sisters’ Place, she was so upset by what was happening to her mother that she hadn’t eaten in three days. When our staff member overheard Katelyn’s mom pleading with her to eat, she discussed the situation with the children’s case worker.
The case worker invited Katelyn to join her at the art table for a fun project. As they were working, the case worker said she felt a little hungry and was going to make a snack. She invited Katelyn to come with her. They picked out fruit cocktail and Katelyn enjoyed two helpings!
The next night, Katelyn waited for the case worker to come and they shared pizza.
Like other little girls her age, Katelyn wanted to be a singer like her idol Hannah Montana. She knew every word of every Hannah Montana song. Knowing this, the case worker talked to Katelyn about how much practice was needed to sing in front of a big crowd and that Katelyn needed to eat good food and drink milk to make lots of energy to perform. Katelyn said she would.
Soon Katelyn was eating right and singing again.
