Family Strengthening
With help, she knew she could move beyond the crisis point...

I will get past this crisis, thanks to Catholic Charities.
Things were turning around for Sandra. She had overcome an alcohol problem to retain custody of her youngest child, she had a new fiancé, and the future seemed bright. Then disaster struck. Sandra began having seizures, she couldn't work, and her fiancé disappeared. Left alone to care for her daughter and her disabled mother, Sandra turned to alcohol again. After two weeks, she decided to get help.

Sandra committed to a one-year counseling and case management program through Catholic Charities. The program emphasizes coping and parenting skills, requires regular drug and alcohol testing, and provides support through a weekly visit from her case worker. Sandra is feeling hopeful again.

"I think people feel safe coming to Catholic Charities for help," said Sandra. "The people here aren't judgmental and they are committed to keeping my family together. They encourage me to work, hard and I want to succeed. I will get past this crisis, thanks to Catholic Charities."
