Each year, hundreds of women, activists and city officials hit the pavement to bring attention to the plight of prostituted individuals during the one-mile walk held in commemoration of the International Day of No Prostitution, recognized worldwide on Oct. 6. Participant carries a light to represent the number of women and girls who have died as a result of prostitution.

The walk is held in a known area of prostitution to prevent sex trafficking activity during the event, to raise awareness among the public, and to let victims know there is hope and help for them. Participants carry candles in memory of the victims who died as a result of “the life.”

The walk is held in partnership with the Arizona Cactus Pine Girl Scout Council, city of Phoenix prosecutor’s office, Lifebridge Community Alliance, Orangewood Church, and escorted by the Phoenix police department.
