Catholic Charities asks community to Spread the Warmth this season
Agency seeking donations of new and gently used coats, sleeping bags and winter wear to help its homeless clients
Cottonwood, Ariz. — Catholic Charities Community Services is asking the community to Spread the Warmth this winter. The agency is seeking gifts of new and gently used coats, sleeping bags and winter wear during its Spread the Warmth donation drive. The items will be distributed to the agency’s homeless clients through its day center, The Loft, and its homeless outreach programs.
“The community really came through during our inaugural Spread the Warmth drive last year, and we hope they will do so again this year,” said Carol Quasula, site director for Catholic Charities. “These items will help make the winter months a little easier for our homeless neighbors.”
Through its PATH (Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness) program, Catholic Charities seeks out homeless individuals and families in Cottonwood and surrounding communities, including Sedona, to distribute these life-sustaining items and to make referrals to mental health and other needed services.
Catholic Charities also provides services to homeless individuals and families through The Loft day drop in center located above its Cottonwood offices. There, homeless clients can make a hot meal, shower, do laundry, use a computer to apply for work or simply enjoy some social interaction.
In addition to coats, sleeping bags and winter wear; hiking boots, tents and backpacks are also needed.
Spread the Warmth donations may be dropped off through Dec. 21 at Simply Amazing Consignment, 47 S. Main St., Mon.-Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or at the Catholic Charities offices, 736 N. Main St., Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
