PHOENIX (Nov. 17, 2010) — Catholic Charities Community Services received a $10,000 grant from the Yavapai County Community Foundation to fund Paths of HOPE, a Catholic Charities program to help motivated families and individuals to permanently improve their financial situations and achieve their dreams through a continuum of education, skill and resource building, and mentorship.
"Paths of HOPE begins with the realization that those in need suffer from a chronic lack of access to resources, only some of which are financial. We help them overcome the attitudes and barriers preventing them from achieving self-sufficiency and their dreams," said Carol Quasula, site director for Catholic Charities Community Services. "Last year, 342 of Yavapai residents participated in Paths of HOPE. With this generous grant from the Yavapai County Community Foundation, many more will learn to break the cycle of poverty."
In addition to financial education, skill and resource building and mentorship, Paths of HOPE also includes free VITA tax preparation.
Financial education classes are continuously forming and free tax preparation begins in early February. For more information about Paths of HOPE and upcoming classes, please call Catholic Charities Community Services at 928.634.4254.
Catholic Charities Director of Program Operations Cathy Peterson accepts a $10,000 check from Nancy Maurer, Yavapai County Community Foundation advisory board chair. The grant will be used to help fund Paths of HOPE, a Catholic Charities program to help break the cycle of poverty.
