PHOENIX (Sept. 13, 2012) – Catholic Charities Community Services celebrates National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 25 by hosting a voter registration drive. Non-partisan information and voter registration assistance is available in both English and Spanish.
“Because we serve our community’s most vulnerable, we know that all too often, their voices are not heard when it comes to elections. That’s why we’ve joined with hundreds of nonprofits throughout the state to make sure all voices will be heard this November,” said Patricia Seguin, chair of Catholic Charities’ civic engagement initiative. “Voting is a responsibility we have to each other as citizens and community members. We want to make it easy for people to excise that right and responsibility by helping them register to vote.”
This is the inaugural year for National Voter Registration Day. Its theme is simple: Register in September, make it count in November. In addition to registering new voters, current voters will receive assistance registering for the permanent early ballot. More than 700 organizations will participate in various ways nationwide.
The voter registration drive will take place at Catholic Charities Community Services offices, 1825 W. Northern Ave. in Phoenix, 9 a.m. to noon. In addition, the agency will host a press conference for Secretary of State Ken Bennett, 10-10:30 a.m.
